Information and instructions for the service that National Energy Authority offers to individuals. Such as consultations and advice about energy.
Subsidies for heating
Users who do not have the option to use geothermal energy for heating most often heat their homes with electricity. Heating with electricity is considerably more expensive than heating from a geothermal utility. In order to equalize living conditions, the government subsidizes the distribution and delivery costs of electricity for household heating.
The subsidies for heating costs provided by the government are substantial, as the government fully covers the distribution and delivery costs of electricity for heating households, up to a maximum usage of 40,000 kWh/year, see details.
Energy Reducing Equipment (Heat pumps)
Apartment owners who currently have subsidized electric heating and wish to adopt environmentally friendly energy generation and/or implement measures that lead to improved energy efficiency in heating can apply for a grant. This concerns subsidy grants for actions that result in better energy efficiency in heating, see more details.
Instructions on choosing electricity supplier
An electricity consumer pays for their usage through two methods. On one hand, they pay for the distribution and transmission of electricity, which is a regulated activity and therefore switching distribution providers is not possible. On the other hand, the consumer pays for purchasing electricity through an electricity retailer. Electricity retailers operate in a competitive market, allowing consumers the freedom to switch retailers easily, see more details.
Comparison of electricity prices
Below, you can see a comparison of electricity prices from electricity retailers, both for general electricity usage and for electric heating. See more details
Application for Energy Fund
The Energy Fund regularly advertises incentives for energy conversion projects, which aim to discontinue the use of fossil fuels and instead utilize renewable and sustainable energy sources.
The Energy Fund operates as a competitive fund, and the main criteria for evaluating projects are how much oil (or other fossil fuels) will be eliminated from usage for a given incentive amount – the so-called "price per liter" benchmark. Other criteria are determined by the specific projects and priorities assigned to the fund at any given time. These criteria include factors such as the industry's production and service sector, project credibility, the speed of project execution, and the project's importance in accelerating energy transition with similar equipment or technology. Information about small power plants
Small-scale hydropower or farm-scale hydropower is a category of small power plants that harness available energy sources at a specific location. Small-scale hydropower can be driven by the gravitational force of water, wind, solar energy, low-temperature geothermal energy, or a combination of these energy sources. It is generally intended for electricity generation for local use in rural areas, summer cottages, or smaller communities. However, it can also feed power into the electricity distribution systems of utility companies or share excess electricity generated with the grid, subject to agreements with system owners and operators.
