Increased cooperation between Iceland and Greece through EEA bilateral projects
13 September 2024The Icelandic National Energy Authority and the Greek Center for Renewable Energy Sources have joined forces through the EEA Development Fund to increase energy efficiency and energy security. Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein support the fund, which provides grants for projects related to renewable energy and climate issues. Although many projects have faced challenges due to global uncertainty, the Greek projects are to be congratulated for their persistence in challenging times for energy in Europe.
Project objectives
Of the 13 projects that were presented, emphasis was placed on:
- Energy efficiency
- Energy saving
- Energy production
Special emphasis was placed on NZEB buildings (near zero energy buildings), which produce their own energy and are very energy efficient. All the projects were chosen because of their strong community approach.
