Plans for Transmission grid

With the amendment of electricity laws in 2015, the National Energy Authority was assigned a new role, which involves overseeing the development of the transmission system through the system plan of Landsnet. The Energy Regulatory Authority is responsible for this role, in accordance with Article 24(2) of the electricity laws.

Landsnet is required to submit an annual system plan for approval by the National Energy Authority, which includes two main components:

  • Long-term plan showing the part of the main transmission system that is planned to be built or upgraded in the next ten years.
  • Implementation plan showing the estimated investments in the transmission system that Landsnet intends to undertake in the next three years.

According to electricity laws, the National Energy Authority's role is to review and assess Landsnet's system plan, taking into account the objectives of the electricity laws regarding safety, efficiency, delivery reliability, cost-effectiveness, electricity quality, and the government's policy on power line routes.
