The Icelandic National Energy Authority and the Greek Center for Renewable Energy Sources have joined forces through the EEA Development Fund to increase energy efficiency and energy security.

The Icelandic National Energy Authority and the Greek Center for Renewable Energy Sources have joined forces through the EEA Development Fund to increase energy efficiency and energy security. Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein support the fund, which provides grants for projects related to renewable energy and climate issues. Although many projects have faced challenges due to global uncertainty, the Greek projects are to be congratulated for their persistence in challenging times for energy in Europe.

Project objectives
Of the 13 projects that were presented, emphasis was placed on:

Special emphasis was placed on NZEB buildings (near zero energy buildings), which produce their own energy and are very energy efficient. All the projects were chosen because of their strong community approach.

The National Regulatory Authority of Iceland has granted the TDK Foil á Íslandi ehf. a licence for energy recovery according to article 18. a. of the Energy Act no. 65/2003 for 25MW in Akureyri.

Orkustofnun has made a modification of the utilisation licence of HS Orka for geothermal energy in Svartsengi , municipality of Grindavíkurbær.

Modification of utilisation licence for geothermal energy in Svartsengi

The Electricity Authority (ROE) has reviewed the data and calculations provided by Landsnet regarding changes to tariff no. 53 and has no further comments.

The changes involve an increase in the tariff due to transmission losses and system services. The new tariff will take effect on the 1st of September 2024.
